Schlaining Castle

Schlaining Castle is one of the best-preserved medieval castles in Austria.
In the course of its development, the originally Gothic building was supplemented by Renaissance and Baroque additions. In the inner courtyard of the castle there is a mighty keep with walls up to 8 m thick, which can also be entered. The Peace Museum was begun in 2000 with the Burgenland Provincial Exhibition 'War or Peace - From the Cult of Violence to the Culture of Peace'.

Lockenhaus Castle

Lockenhaus Castle was built around 1200 above the Güns Valley and was initially called Leuca.
Today it is considered the last real knight's castle in Austria. Romanesque and Gothic architecture, crypt and other details from the 13th century testify to a highly developed sense of art. The knight's castle, located in the heart of the Geschriebenstein Nature Park, has always been an imposing attraction.
